When picking out a sofa, people consider a lot of details. They think about the measurements. They think about the colours or the materials used. The foam is also a consideration, especially since these days there are plenty of options available. However, there’s a singular detail some people forget.

They neglect to consider the fabric for their upholstery Perth.

Well, that’s not a good idea. The fabric can have a huge effect on long geverty of your furniture. To help you out here, we’re going to look at the good and bad of the most common choices of fabric out there.

We’ll begin with linen, which has seen a major resurgence over the past few years. It’s popular in Nordic designs, effortless in style, and very practical.

In most cases, it’s green-friendly. It’s a breathing fabric, which means air circulate through it. It’s resistant to most allergens, so it’s great in that area. Linen is usually easy to clean, which is one less thing for you to worry about. It also gets softer over time.

However, It isn’t perfect. Linen tends to wrinkle and lack elasticity, so it’s also prone to creases that can be a huge issue for some. Provided we make the right selection of linen for the job we shouldn’t have problems with durability however some linens are much thinner this will result in a shorter lifespan. Finally if this fabric is not scotch guarded it can stain easily and that’s can be a huge problem for many, especially lost with young children and cheeky pets.

Next, we’ll look into cotton. This is a versatile, easy-to-maintain choice.

Cotton is a breathable fabric and can absorb moisture. In fact, it can take up to three times its weight without feeling damp. Cotton is durable but washable, making it easy to maintain and clean; It also resists pilling.

Like linen, it also tends to wrinkle however not in the same way linen would, what you will find is there are very easy ways to avoid this issue for example you can look into a cotton/ polyester blends a great majority of upholstery fabric are made with this type of blend due to its versatile nature.

Then there’s velvet. It comes in a number of varieties, and it has a certain quality to it that just screams luxury and style.

Velvet is soft to the touch. There’s nothing quite like it in terms of texture, with the only other thing that comes close being pure silk. Velvet also has a lustre to it that many designers love. It has a natural two tonal nature, giving the colour dimension and depth.

However, velvet is high-maintenance. It needs to be vacuumed regularly because the fabric draws dust like there’s no tomorrow. If you have a pet, it’s also a terrible idea. Velvet is also difficult to clean, often requiring the attention of a professional. It can’t just be tossed into a machine to wash like other options.

This is just a few options of textures and fabrics that are available to us, below we have a link that you can click on if you have any more questions in regards to what is a avaliable for you.
